How To Study – Rule 7

Rule 7: Visions are always mentioned as such.

MILLER’S PROOFS (texts which demonstrate the Bible principles in support of this rule)

2 Corinthians 12:1 “It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.”

My Proofs

Genesis 15:1 “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”

Numbers 12:6 “And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.”

Psalms 89:19 “Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.”

Isaiah 1:1 “The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

Ezekiel 11:24 “Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.”

Daniel 2:19 “Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”

Daniel 8:1 “In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.”

Obadiah 1:1 “The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.”

Acts 11:5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:”

Revelation 9:17 “And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.”

My Comments

This rule doesn’t seem to need further explanation. I found many Bible texts that demonstrate that visions are mentioned plainly.

Spirit of Prophecy Support

I have not yet found any quotes directly repeating this rule, but it is clear that the Spirit of Prophecy does not contradict the authority of this rule. I will insert any quotes here as I find the supporting evidence.
